Hey! I’m Damion Bankhead, a professional wildlife and nature portrait photographer based in Birmingham, AL, and I’m so happy you’ve found your way here! My photography is all about capturing the real, unfiltered you. I focus on natural beauty, using minimal poses, natural lighting, and only simple editing so that every image reflects who you are, not just how you look. My goal is to make you feel comfortable, confident, and completely at ease in front of the camera, allowing your true self to shine through in every shot.

I’ve had a love for photography for as long as I can remember. Even as a kid, I’d walk around framing things with my hands, seeing the world in pictures before I even knew what that meant. That passion has only grown over the years. My journey has taken me through many phases—from sketching and music production to fitness, Army, and law enforcement—but photography has always been there, waiting for me to dive deeper.

One day, I took my camera out on a hike and snapped a photo of a little Carolina wren singing its heart out. That one moment changed everything for me. People loved the photo, and soon I had requests to purchase prints. From there, I became deeply connected to the birding community, building relationships with the Alabama Audubon and having my work published in magazines like Amateur Photographer and Alabama the Beautiful.

But for me, photography is about more than just taking pictures—it’s about capturing moments that help people see the beauty around them and within themselves. I’m here to help you feel seen, to show you that there’s so much more than what we see at first glance. Whether it’s out in nature, in a quiet field, or next to a waterfall, I’m all about creating images that feel authentic to you—no forced smiles or stiff poses, just you being you.
